    Commonwealth leaders discuss youth development

    At the executive session of Commonwealth Heads of government meeting in Colombo today  the theme was youth and  they had a discussion on youth because the leaders have recognized the importance of youth contribution in national and commonwealth development processes. This was stated by spokesperson and Director Communication and people affairs of Commonwealth Secretariat Richard Uku at a press conference held at the media center today evening. Responding to a point raised by a journalist regarding the alleged violations in Sri Lanka spokesperson, CHOGM 2013 Anuradha K. Herath said that the president had already said that if any violation is reported and complains were made  action would be taken under the legal system .

    Mr.Uku said that Sri Lanka is an important and value member of commonwealth and that is why heads of government are meeting today here. There are problems to be addressed and commonwealth is collaborating with the Sri Lankan government to strengthen in some areas in this regards. He also said Sri Lanka has undertaken a reconciliation programme and it takes time to achieve results and cannot be expected them overnight. Mr K.Rajasingham, Editor of Asian Tribune said that he was away from his motherland Sri Lanka for 20 years because of Prabhakaren was hunting him. Now he has gone to his house in Jaffna. He said that some elements were trying to discredit Sri Lanka. He also said that the army was doing a wonderful job in the north to help the people in that area. They Have setup a harmony center and help the people to trace  missing people.

    MP A.H.M Azwer at this news conference said that LTTE chased away 75000 muslims from Jaffna and they were given three hours to leave their places of living. At kebithigollewa the LTTE killed a lot of innocent children and 143 Muslims who were prying at a mosque in Kaththankudi and he ask why this type of brutalities and human rights violations were not probed.
