‘ஹையான்’ புயலின் கோர தாண்டவத்தில் பிலிப்பைன்ஸ் நாட்டின் மத்திய
பகுதியில் உள்ள லிதே தீவு கடும் பாதிப்புக்குள்ளானது. லிதே மாகாணத்தின்
தலைநகர் தக்லோபான் நகரம் ஆக்ரோஷமான கடல் அலைகளால் கடும் சேதத்துக்கு
ஆளானது. இதனால் கடற்கரை ஓரம் இருந்த வீடுகள் மற்றும் கட்டிடங்கள் இடிந்து
தரை மட்டமாயின. இது தவிர வெள்ளப் பெருக்கில் பல நகரங்கள் வெள்ளத்தில்
மூழ்கின.
இதனால் ஏராளமான வர்கள் உயிரிழந்தனர். இடிபாடுகளை அகற்றி மீட்பு பணியில்
குழுவினர் ஈடுபட்டனர். மேலும், மழை வெள்ளத்தில் அடித்து செல்லப்பட்டு
இறந்தவர்களின் உடல்களும் மீட்கப்பட்டன.
இதுவரை சுமார் 600 உடல்கள் மீட்கப்பட்டதால் 1000 பேர் பலியாகி இருக்கலாம்

இந்த புயல் மத்திய பிலிப்பைன்சில் உள்ள 6 தீவுகளை தாக்கியது. இதில் லிதே
தீவுதான் மிக கடுமையான தாக்குதலுக்குள்ளானது. இது கடந்த 2004–ம் ஆண்டு
நடந்த சுனாமி பேரழிவை விட அதிகம் என ஐ.நா.பேரழிவு கணக்கீட்டு
ஒருங்கிணைப்புக்குழு தலைவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
