he main suspect in connection with the killing of The Sunday LeaderrEditor-in-Chief Lasantha Wickremetunge has been acquitted from all charges and released by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court yesterday.
He appeared before the court, when the case was taken up, and was acquitted from all charges and ordered to be released by the Mount Lavinia Chief Magistrate Ranga Wimalsena on the instructions of the Attorney General.
The Sunday Leader Editor-in-Chief Lasantha Wickremetunge was assassinated near the Malagalage Primary School in Attidiya on January 8, 2009.
A garage owner and an army intelligence officer was arrested over the incident.
The garage owner died due to an illness while in remand custody after being granted bail.
